Round the Island 1-day Panorama Tour
Our signature tour – the most popular choice for those with limited time but don’t want to miss a thing. Hear tales of King Charles I, Queen Victoria & Prince Albert, Alfred Lord Tennyson, Charles Darwin, Julia Margaret Cameron, Charles Dickens, Garibaldi, Marconi, Winston Churchill, Ian Fleming, Jimi Hendrix and many more on our best-loved day tour.
Visit Queen Victoria’s 'dear Osborne', see the 1970 IOW (Pop) Festival Site, wonder at the exterior of Carisbrooke Castle, drive along the stunning south coastal route with its tales of smuggling, shipwrecks and dinosaurs and across the Island’s central downs, see Shanklin and Ventnor with their spectacular views, Blackgang, through Newport with its hidden royal tomb, Tennyson’s Farringford and neighbouring Dimbola, along with tucked away 'chocolate box' villages, all before finishing at The Needles. Consider the Island conquered!
You will find this repeated along with further examples of our 1 – 7 day tours on our Sample Tours page.
Your personalised tour – be it 1-day or longer
Your tour is totally bespoke and flexible and may or may not include all of the above – possibly not even any of it! This is fine – we will craft your tour entirely according to your own wishes, whether it’s a 1-day tour or longer.
The Island’s Story
The Island has a long story to tell – starting with prehistory and continuing right though to the present day. We can’t possibly tell its whole story in one day, nor even in seven days!
What we CAN do however is to tell you part of it, within however long you have at your disposal. And it will be the part that draws you in most – whether this be a pick-and-mix of different experiences within a timeframe of your choosing OR whether it be themed to one (or more) particular area/s of your interest.
The Pace of Your Tour
Please also bear in mind, the pace at which you want to travel will be set by you , according to your abilities and wishes. This will all be discussed with you in detail ahead of time. We can’t know much you will comfortably be able (or want) to fit into your time with us.
We craft your unique Island Experience and Exploration
Each tour is a carefully crafted personal exploration and experience of the Island, and always part of a much wider tapestry.
To simplify matters, we have divided your potential tour components into 8 themes/ areas of Interest
Below we have 8 buttons – each representing a different theme or area of interest ) rather than a geographical area (with the exception of Royalty, Racing & Rigging – which is almost all about Cowes and East Cowes – thus including Osborne) . Inevitably, there will be some overlaps, but we invite you to look at all of them before deciding on what you would like to include in your tour.
There is plenty more to see on the Island besides what I have mentioned!
It also has to be said, we haven’t included everything on the Island – we couldn’t possibly! If I have missed out your favourite gem – please forgive me! I am very aware that there is a lot more that I sadly haven’t been able to include here, so please don’t imagine the list I have given is exhaustive!
Extra info given in the Fossils & Geology section which some of you might want to skip – no problem!
At the bottom of that page we also give you more in-depth information which you may or may not wish to read. If you don’t – please feel free to click the button to skip to the next page.
Often we have included some suggested themed tours within a pages.
Bear in mind – these potential tour components are all just suggestions. designed to be helpful. You can either consider or discard them, exactly as you wish. Remember – nothing is set in stone. Each potential tour component that we include is simply there for your consideration - nothing more.
Our aim is to assist you to make an informed choice of what you would like to include in your very own customised dream tour!

“My husband and I traveled from the US for the first time to the Isle of Wight for his 64th birthday. I followed the advice of the Beatles song ‘When I’m 64’ to ‘rent a cottage on the Isle of Wight’. We both loved the tour and it was the highlight of our 8 day vacation. We only had 1 full day to see the beautiful Island and Jane squeezed in every adventure imaginable! We were so happy, it was better than we could have dreamed. Jane was so knowledgeable and friendly, doing so many special things for us including arranging a fabulous photographer friend of hers named Paul to document the day as we requested! He was spectacular as well! We saw so many amazing things and learned so much!!! I could go on for days describing it! It was priceless! I wish everyone could experience the day we had! We got to see of all the hidden treasures that we never would have found on our own. She is so well connected on the Island that you can get anything you could possibly want or need.”
